Welcome to the family.

Today's musicians entering collegiate programs have many options when considering their next steps. A host of institutions offer impressive histories and impeccable credentials. Finding the one that’s best for you is a different story. So what sets SFCM apart?

Our mission is to cultivate the next generation of world-class musicians, and we think we’ve come up with something great: a curricular approach to musical education virtually unprecedented at the conservatory level. By combining training in musicianship, theory, performance, writing, and history with courses that help you start applying your musical skills in the real world, SFCM offers a uniquely well-rounded education with high-caliber faculty to match.

But courses alone aren’t enough. You also need facilities that support and enhance your experience. That’s why SFCM’s concert halls, practice rooms, and recording studios were all built to foster collaboration and discovery. Even our new residence hall, The Panoramic, will help you learn and play at your best, right in the heart of San Francisco.

Speaking of which, as an SFCM student, your neighbors will include one of the best symphonies in the country, one of the best opera houses, and one of the best jazz institutions. You’ll get special privileges to see their performances and rehearsals, and to study with many of the musicians who make them shine.

So please check us out. We want you here. It’s an exclusive place, but once you’re in, you’re family.
